KPV is a short tripeptide made from three amino acids: lysine, proline and valine. It is derived from the C-terminal portion of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH), a naturally occurring peptide involved in several signalling processes within the body.<\/p>\n
Research into KPV has focused mainly on inflammatory and immune signalling. Laboratory and animal studies have investigated its effects on pathways involved in the production of inflammatory cytokines, immune-cell activity and the movement of inflammatory cells into tissues. Particular research interest has centred on the gastrointestinal tract, skin and other tissues affected by inflammatory processes.<\/p>\n
