Description
TB-500 is a synthetic peptide fragment derived from the actin-binding region of thymosin beta-4, a naturally occurring protein involved in cell movement, tissue maintenance and repair.
Research into the thymosin beta-4 system has focused on processes such as cell migration, angiogenesis, wound healing, collagen deposition and inflammatory signalling. The actin-binding region from which TB-500 is derived is particularly important because actin helps cells maintain their structure and move during tissue repair and remodelling.
In plain English: researchers are interested in TB-500 because it comes from a part of thymosin beta-4 involved in helping cells move and organise themselves during repair. That is why it is commonly discussed in research around wound healing, connective tissue, muscle, tendons, blood-vessel formation and recovery from tissue damage.
Laboratory and animal research has explored TB-500 itself and related thymosin beta-4 fragments, while much of the broader evidence for tissue repair comes from studies of full-length thymosin beta-4. For that reason, findings from thymosin beta-4 should not automatically be assumed to apply identically to TB-500. Human clinical evidence specifically for TB-500 remains limited, and it has not been established as a proven treatment.
