Description

IGF-1 LR3 (Long R3 Insulin-Like Growth Factor-1) is a laboratory-engineered analogue of naturally occurring IGF-1. It has been modified with an arginine substitution at position 3 together with an additional amino-acid sequence at the beginning of the molecule.

These modifications greatly reduce its affinity for IGF-binding proteins while allowing it to remain active at the IGF-1 receptor. Researchers use IGF-1 LR3 to investigate IGF signalling and the role that binding proteins play in controlling the biological activity of IGF-1. Laboratory and animal research has explored its effects on cell growth and proliferation, protein and nutrient metabolism, tissue development and other processes influenced by the IGF-1 signalling system.

In plain English: IGF-1 is one of the body’s important growth and repair signals. Researchers are interested in IGF-1 LR3 because it is a modified version that is less easily tied up by the proteins that normally regulate IGF-1. This makes it useful for studying things such as muscle and tissue growth, cell repair, how nutrients are used by cells and the wider growth-hormone/IGF system.

Experimental studies have shown that IGF-1 LR3 can produce stronger biological activity than ordinary IGF-1 in some laboratory and animal models because of its reduced interaction with IGF-binding proteins. However, results vary between tissues and animal species, and evidence relating specifically to IGF-1 LR3 in humans is very limited. It has not been established as an approved human treatment.

Supplied by Black Knight Peptides for laboratory and research purposes only.

Not for human consumption.
